Of the 590 members of the Hoteliers Federation in Ibiza and Formentera, 82 have expressed their intention of opening up for Easter, which is 26 more than the number which are open all year round. Between them these 82 establishments have nearly 15,000 beds and represent 18 per cent of the total amount of hotels which belong to the Association, which does not include the GPS group, Grupo Playa Sol. Juanjo Riera, President of the Federation, commented that this good beginning to the summer season is mainly due to Easter falling so late this year; some years Easter Sunday is up to a month earlier; in fact last year it fell on the 28th March and not one extra hotel opened, apart from those which are open all year round. However, it will not be until the 15th of June that all the hotels and apartment complexes will be functioning.
