Since the beginning of the month of November it is impossible to travel to Mallorca and return the same day by boat. With the end of the summer season, the fast ferries have been taken out of service and one of the lines, Baleària, only has one crossing, which is during the night and usually departs at 3.00 am, with the return journey at 10.00 in the morning. On the other hand, Acciona Trasmediterránea has cancelled all its previous sailings on Fridays and Saturdays and it is only on Sundays that one of its ferries leaves at 19.00 in the afternoon. Normally during December extra crossings are arranged but, so far, no concrete information is available for this year.
Meanwhile figures published last week by the Airport Authority showed the upward trend had continued into October and in the first ten months of the year 386,700 more passengers had arrived or departed from the Ibiza airport terminal than during the whole of 2010, which was a record in itself. So far this year 5,409,500 passengers have passed through the airport, whereas the figure at the end of December last year was 5,040,800.
