A total of 208,000 people arrived on low-cost airlines in Ibiza during September according to the latest data released by the Airport Authorities. Similarly in the first nine months of the year 1.15 million passengers flew with these companies, an increase of 11.2 per cent compared to 2010. However, traditional airline passengers also showed a significant increase, up by 17.6 per cent last month and by 16 per cent during the first nine months of the year. Mallorca is the destination in Spain which receives the most travellers aboard low-cost carriers, and increased the figure by 16 per cent on 2010. Nationally these airlines have transported 28.9 million passengers from January to September, again a large increase of 14 per cent on the previous nine month period.
