And now for something completely different. We’ve known it for many years, but now they’ve even named a hotel after it – Ibiza Rocks! Oh yes it does!
This enormous place has over 350 rooms starting at around £10 a night per person. It’s aimed squarely at the young indie crowd, which is a major and innovative break from the island’s twenty-year tradition of catering to the clubbing scene. It also has the added advantage of standing right in the heart of San Antonio around 300m from the beach.
It used to be known as the Club Paraiso, but has now been renamed and completely overhauled after the successes of the past few years. Bands such as the Pigeon Detectives, Kaiser Chiefs, the Arctic Monkeys, the Kooks and a whole host of other big-name and up-and-coming bands have played here, and the coming year promises a slew of brand-new surprises.
And there is a lot more to the place than the gigs – live DJ sets, beachcombing parties, comedy nights and pool parties. Prepare yourself to lose a lot of beauty sleep.
